Boohwal in Green Plugged Festival

So, Green Plugged Festival. Just as my previous post, this is a last week happening ^^; Green Plugged Festival was a 2-days festival held on May 21st-22nd, in 노을공원 (Noul Park), which used to be a garbage dumping site, changed by the Seoul government (i guess..) to become this somewhat a nice park. No, no, don’t imagine flowers and butterflies, it’s basically just greens and some rather … not-so-friendly area ^^; Overall, I like the park for you can see Hangang (river) just lying wide, and on normal days there are barely people there.

Well, back to Green Plugged, the festival is held as an environmental campaign, so you can see how Noul Park is a perfect spot for it. The festival was for two days, and 115 bands, singers, bands, and musicians perform in 5 separate stages. The stages were: Earth, Sky, Moon, Sun, and Wind. All 5 stages were held simultaneously, so you gotta know who you’re coming to see and set up your schedule before hand.

I went to Boohwal’s concert on 21st, so I came to Green Plugged on 22nd of May, on which day Boohwal performed on EARTH STAGE starting 14.20 pm (3rd performer).

I arrived at Noul Park at around 1 o’clock, just as the first performer was wrapping up. I nicely sat as people started to leave the area (apparently they want to watch other stage performance). The band who performs before Boohwal was Buret, which was kinda good, but I couldn’t focus, coz I worried whether I should secure my spot earlier or not. From my seat, I moved to the right side of the stage which was guarded by staff, and nearing the front, I saw Seo Jae-Hyuck talking to someone!!!!

This picture below was actually taken after the stage, not before. He was actually closer to me before the stage, so I bowed (I’m such a polite fan, aren’t I?!) to him, and he waved at me!! 😉 (L-O-V-E H-I-M! lol :p) Soon, Chae Jemin joined him and the other guy, and I bowed again, this time heading to the drummer, and he also waved at me!! I LOVE THEM, REALLY! XD Some time after, Jeong Dong-Ha also approached them, but they all head back to the tents soon. When Jae-Hyuck Oppa waved at me, my friend was really surprised and excited she missed taking his picture (actually we took one, but the (guy who was talking with him)’s arm was on the way.. so..

So Boohwal stepped up the stage. Kim Tae-Won held by a guy (it was ascending^^;). I couldn’t grab the most front of the line, but I was second to front, and had practically clear access to all members of Boohwal so I ain’t complaining. Especially that Jae-Hyuck Oppa was right in front of me and he did see my way several times (or so I’d like to think :D)

They started with 사랑이란건, followed with 1970, Someday, and OZ. Three brilliant options, indeed. I was kinda sorry Jae-Hyuck Oppa didn’t do the same action he did the night before when playing OZ…

The concert continued with “Never Ending Story, and on the anchor call, they played 비와 당신의 이야기 (hm, I haven’t reviewed this song yet, haven’t I, I really should, and will! ^^). This time, Jae-Hyuck Oppa with his glasses and shirt on, I had my eyes on Tae-Won Oppa but his vocal wasn’t maximal that day – his guitar was ^^

They all went down the stage, and I got together with some more friends, still keeping an eye on the back stage. When we finally left to head for another stage, believe it or not, Boohwal was on two mini cars in front of us!!!! >_< So close, and no fans around!!!!! I could lose my mind, really >_< But due to my “civil fan” thingy (read: groggy) I couldn’t approach them. But Jemin Oppa was looking my way, so I yelled (said) “오빠 멋있어요!” and went on… Oh I hate myself.. -_-

채제민 in Green Plugged Festival by 겁많은사자

I stayed in Green Plugged until the last stage that night. It was great, I was exhausted, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else ^^ The last stage I watched was YB on the Sky Stage. They rock, too! ^_^

And, ow, did I tell you it started raining just about when Boohwal brought Yeah, as if the sky understood! -_-; It was chilly cold. But awesome! 🙂

Star’s Diary: Chae Jemin (1)

“Used to be the boss of bad students”

Released May 19th, 2010, 09.42 am, edited 11.09 am

=Chae Jemin (right), in his younger days was a prospective boxer.=

Spring 1985, a boxing training center in Incheon. People were gathering around a sandbag. Fast punches and brilliant body movements. The audience watching this high school boxing training was filled with admiration.

The time when boxing was the most popular sport. Boy Chae Jemin was a star in the gymnasium. He owns every prize for all competitions he joined. The trophies he received was hung on the entrance to the gymnasium. Juniors thought of him as a living “textbook of boxing.” However, after sometime being absent, young Jemin didn’t find the gym satisfied him. He blamed it on his skills that wasn’t as remarkable as before. For sometime, his concentration power had gone  from his outstretched fist.

He was in junior high when he first put his hands into boxing gloves. He could have also done other sports. It’s because he’s got a lot of scoutings for various fields of sports. Tall figure and wide shoulders.

The first sport he ever started was judo. His was talented. There was almost no other athletes who could blow him down the mat. But as time went by, he started to look other direction. He wanted to become a boxer like the athlete he saw on TV blowing off his foreign opponent, the champion of WBC light play Jang Jeong-Gu.

After a long thought, he visited a boxing gym. The head of the gym and other athletes all welcomed him. The next day, Chae Jemin was standing on the ring instead of a mat.

As he enters high school, his skills progresses that he was srong enough to level  a fight with adult boxer. But as he enters the second year of high school, right when he was progressing the most, he stumbled upon a braking stone. His father passed away from hypertension paralysis. His father loved Chae Jemin so much. Despite the difficult circumstances, he unendedly supported his son who chose to be an athlete.

“My father was like a mountain. Everytime when I finish exercising, he would pose pose like he would challenge me in a fight and say, “my son, let’s see what you’ve got,”…

The emptiness his father had left took him to a long wandering. The days when he’d throw about his fist in and outside school, instead of in the boxing ring, increased. Several times his opponents would pass out from meeting his boxing-trained fist. 한바탕 소란 뒤 이들과 친구가 된 채제민은 he naturally became the leader of the bad students. The unfavorable incidents. His mother was called to come to school often, and one day, she started to frequent to police station.

“I was a teenager, my mother’s words were just just nagging for me. The regret I feel from that time still cuts deep into my heart.”

By the end of his wandering, he came back to the gym. It felt weird to put the gloves on again. The passion that he had before was no where to be found. It was no use even when he stood in front of a sandbag. All he saw was his reflection on the full-body mirror, his 10kg increased weight. In boxing, you have to work manifold times harder even if you only step up one weight class. He only felt the dream to become the world champion slipping away. Chae Jemin took off his gloves quitely and packed his bag. A dream that ended in vain. But it wasn’t only darkness in his expression.

“That time, I felt like I could do anything with the preserverance I learned from boxing.”

A lesson he learned from the gym that he had departed. It became a stepping stone when he went to follow his new dream. It was music.

Noise 11 (project band)

Noise 11 is a project band led by Boohwal’s drummer Chae Jemin.

Noise 11 - "The Beginning"

Members are: Chae Jemin (drum), Park Ung (guitar), Jang Jiwon (keyboard), Kang Un-Hee (bass), and Lee Hyeon-Seob (vocal). All have their own band, or previously belong to a band, and get together in Noise 11 on project-basis.

They’ve started this project since 2006 for live performances in clubs and festivals, and finally released an album in February 2009, titled “The Beginning”.

The album has four songs:

1. 예전 그대로 (composed and written by guitarist Park Ung)

2. 한달 그리고 일년 후 (composed by keyboardist Jang Jiwon, lyrics by vocalist Lee Hyeon-Seob)

3. 은두 (composed and written by basist Kang Un-Hee)

4. 건전가요 (composed and written by the leader of team/drummer Chae Jemin)

Sadly I don’t have their album, but I heard the preview of the first track (the title song) “예전 그대로” and it’s really REALLY beautiful! Let me know if you happen to have the album, it’s really difficult to find this album these days ㅜㅜ

Wonderful Days: Drummer 채제민

제민오빠 ^_^ (by wb)

If I don’t credit anyone for the picture, it’s my own work. But I know I don’t have the best camera … so I also insert some of 제민오빠’s best pictures from Boohwal’s fanclub.. 🙂

“Event” – as it’s called in Korean-English, means the period where the artists on the stage prepare a short performance for the audience. 제민오빠’s used to be solo drum, but he hurt his shoulder in an accident recently so he couldn’t do it in this concert. Instead, he sang a song and threw candies (or probably chocolates – I was never lucky to get one T.T) to the audience.. ^_^
