[Bird, Wall]

(Bird, Wall) is the title of Boohwal’s 8th album released in 2002, as well as the first track in this album. The jacket says, “We get together to show how we resurrect again… We are going to be flying much higher though it’ll be harder and harder to find our days.” (yes, in English ^^)

I present you [새 벽] .. for Boohwal will always resurrect again, and fly even higher.. even pass the days you or I might even be there to witness…

This song is written and composed by Kim Tae-Won.

새가 날아오르는 머나먼 저 언덕에 (on that far away hill where a bird is flying up)
희망이라는 바람이 부네 (the wind called “hope” is blowing)
누군가 노을이 물든 저 길목을 걷겠지 (someone will walk that street faded by the sunset)
.
난 또 내일도 어제와 같은 꿈에 너와 머물겠지 (tomorrow, I’d also stayed with you in the same dream as yesterday)
언젠가 꿈속에 서로 만나듯이 (as when we meet in the dreams, someday)
저 바람을 타며 새가 날아가듯 (riding the wind, the bird is flying)
.
저 바다를 넘어 기찻길을 따라 새가 날아오르는 (crossing that sea, following the rail track, the rising bird)
하늘을 보라 커다란 날개를 펴고 가까이 가려해 (look at the sky, spread your wings wide, get closer)
우리가 살아온 날보다 내일이 더 길테니 (tomorrow is longer than the days we’ve lived)
.
나는 오늘도 어제와 같은 꿈에 너와 머물겠지 (today, I’d also stayed with you in the same dream as yesterday)
언젠가 꿈속에 서로 만나듯이 (as when we meet in the dreams, someday)
저 바람을 타며 새가 날아가듯 (riding the wind, the bird is flying)
.
..

회상 II (Reminiscence II)

This is a song that really highlights Kim Tae-Won’s guitar skills, and even if you don’t understand the song (the first time I heard it was in May concert, and I couldn’t catch one word of the lyrics) you can feel somewhat pain that is projected in the song. Written and composed by Kim Tae-Won.

This song is inserted in 3 albums:

  • 2nd Album [Remember] ~ 1987
  • 6th Album [
  • 8th Album [

my friend when I was little, little you, where is he
.
I am now, looking for you
.
you’ve grown, I hate it. Even if I pass by you, I wouldn’t know
.
I am looking for the little you
.
I came to the old neighborhood, looking for you
.
I look deserted
.
the look of me that used to be beautiful, because I grew up
.
can’t see it even when I want to see it

(The Story of You and the Rain)

This was the very first song ever written by Kim Tae-Won when he was sitting in the second grade of high school. This is the story of a teenage boy losing his first love.

This song was released in Boohwal’s 1st album, “Rock Will Never Die,” released in 1986. Naturally, the original singer was Lee Seung-Chul. This song was the second track in the album.

This song is still very, very much, brought by the band in their live stage, usually as the closing song. Sometimes as anchor song. Anyways, it has to be at the end of the live concert ^^

Honestly, I never paid attention to the lyrics. I only like the part where Tae-Won Oppa sings. It just feels so powerful. Maybe because this is his story, that he gets to deliver that feeling in the accuracy and the exactness of the emotion.

Now, the following video is a recent version of this song. And as footnote, I could be found in the video if one looks carefully~and if one knows how I look like, of course (lol). It was shot on April 6th, 2010, and aired on EBS Space TV on May 7th, 2010.

(The Story of You and the Rain)

.
아이가 눈이 오길 바라듯이 (as a child hoping for the snow to come)
비는 너를 그리워 하네~  (the rain says it misses you)
비의 낭만보다는~ 비의 따스함 보다~ (compared to the romanticism of the rain ~ compared to the warmth of the rain)
그날의 애절한 너를 잊지 못함 이기에~ (because I can’t forget the mournful you on that day)
.
당신은 나를 기억 해야 하네~ (you have to remember me)
항상 나를 슬프게 했지~  (you always made me sad)
나의 사랑스럽던 너의 눈가의 비들  (my cherished … rain at the corner of your eyes…)
(I can’t stand seeing the mournful you on that day)
.
(I cried a lot)
비에 비 맞으며~  눈에 비 맞으며~  (when the rain falls on the rain~ when when the rain falls on the snow)
비속의 너를~ 희미하게 그리며  (you inside of the rain~ missing you feebly)
우리의 마지막 말을~ 너의 마지막 말을 기억 하네~  (our last words~ I remember your last words)
.
(I love you, I love you, I love you)
(I love you, I love you, I love you)
.
.
P.S. I forgot to mention that this song was also reproduced in Boohwal’s 8th album, released in 2002 – that’s when Lee Seung-Cheul returned to Boohwal just for this album. There’s no Boohwal’s album with Jeong Dong-Ha ‘s version of this song.

R.E.M

R.E.M. Sometime almost 3 months ago I first had my ears on this song and it somehow cut deep into my heart. It feels so deep but I’m not sure I understood the song. So I asked around in Kim Tae-Won’s fan club, and was told that R.E.M stands for Rapid Eye Movement. (which was not such a big help to understand the song, still -_-) It is composed and written by Kim Tae-Won, as you might have already figured.
.
This song is so deep and my biggest issue is that I’m not sure what it’s about. Ow, note that this song is sang by Kim Tae-Won~^^ except for the part that’s started with (*) mark which is sang by Lee Seung-Cheul. And as so, this song was inserted in Boohwal’s 8th album, 새벽, released in 2002.

있는거라 말 하기에는 너무 흐려져 가는   (to say that it’d be there, it’s too blurred)
지나는 아이의 눈에 잠시는 보여지는  (in the eyes of a passing child, it was seen for a while)
시간으로 전해지게 되 정해지는 모든 일 (it’s passed over time, that’s how everything is)
.
단 하루도 저 기억에 물들어버린  (even in one day, that memory was tainted)
있는거라 말 하기에는 너무 흐려져 가는   (to say that it’d be there, it’s too blurred)
지나는 아이의 눈에 잠시는 보여지는   (in the eyes of a passing child, it was seen for a while)
시간으로 전해지게 되 정해지는 모든 일  (it’s passed over time, that’s how everything is)
.
(Somehere, in that somewhere)
갈 수 없어도 항상 있어온 너   (even when I can’t go there, you’re always here)
(Child! In that far away place, this moment is also elapsing!)

Top 3: Never Ending Story

Boohwal predicts the new song 사랑이란건 to become their 4th greatest hit song, thus I had the idea of posting the legendary Top Three 🙂

Never Ending Story is another work of art from Kim Tae-Won. It was released in Boohwal’s 8th Album (2002) in which Lee Seung-Chul came back as the vocalist of Boohwal.

Why I choose the video I pick below?

1. It is the original video

2. Colorful HAIR! (Eom Soo-Han, the previous pianist) was blond, 제민오빠 was.. also blond and his hair was rather long, I love when 태원오빠 leave his hair down messy like that, and I’m not sure whether 재혁오빠’s hair was grey or brunet in this one..

^_^* (i’m not gonna translate that :p)

Here’s the lyrics:

Never Ending Story

Where is that place that my hand can’t reach..
Today, you’re also breathing.. but..
On the small chair where I used to be with you
The same figures passed by the wind..
If you leave, it’s as if you’re leaving me
From far away, (my) hands wave
Someday.. it will leave its prints in my memory(ies)
.
If (you) miss, someday.. you (will) meet (come to meet)
Like in the movies, these things become reality
I couldn’t protect you in a hard day (beyond my power)
you, in that beautiful time (season, moment)

If you leave, it’s as if you’re leaving me
From far away, (my) hands wave
Someday.. it will leave its prints in my memory(ies)

Alright, I know you’d like one version sang by the current vocalist, Jeong Dong-Ha, problem is Boohwal never remade this song after 2005, even though they play it live in lots of occasions. This video is from Concert 7080, January 2009.
I know, you can’t have enough of this song, can you? :p Here’s another one, a live performance still with Lee Seung-Cheul, and although he doesn’t get shot a lot, Jae-Hyuck Oppa with his grey hair.. 😉 I say he looks younger now than he did 7 years ago.. 😉
